Best Mobile Plans in Canada for 2024

See table of contents

Moving to Canada soon? Or just arrived? Or simply NOT satisfied with your current mobile data provider?

If yes in any of those, then you are reading the right article, because I've scoured the market to find you the best deals.

Right now, the best deals I've seen so far is provided by Public Mobile.

You can either visit their website using the link below,

Public Mobile

or continue reading this post to know why.

Before we begin, set your expectation stratight. If there's anything cheap in Canada, it is NOT their mobile plans. They are expensive and there's nothing like the ones in the Phillipines, where you can just top up when needed. Everything here is based on monthly payment plans or contract.

Pre-paid is just basically contract-free plans, and here are the cheapest plans I found based on their own category

Bare minimum ($15 per month)

If you only want the bare minimum, it's going to be the $15 per month. What's included here is 250mb of data at 3G speed.

Yes you read that right, it's NOT 5G and it's NOT 4G. It's ONLY 3G speed.

This also comes with unlimited Canada wide outgoing and incoming calls, and text nationwide.

This $15/month plan from Public Mobile is the most common plan offered by any other service provider. It is just the same with Telus, Virgin Plus, Fido, Koodo, etc.

In short, the cheapest of the cheapest ones out there is $15 per month. The providers I've mentioned above provides pretty much the same service outcome, except all you need to be concern about is if it is available in your area. Hence you don't really need to think really hard on which one to choose.

BUT another thing to consider is that you can earn a $10 credit on your plans, if you signed up using the link below.

In addition, once you've signed up, you can earn 5% on their rewards program on everything you spent. Rewards which you can either use to redeem more credit and lower your monthly payments, or buy add ons for more data or calls outside Canada.

And that makes Public Mobile's plan the cheapest and

AND WAIT!! There's still more!!!

Instead of buying a physical simcard, you can just buy an eSIM***

What does that mean? That means you don't need to wait to be in Canada to buy and activate your simcard. You can have a working phone number the moment you arrive in Canada. And since you don't need a physical simcard, then you get to keep your number from the Philippines and it's like having 2 sims at once. You'll continue to get access to your OTPs from accounts registered to your previous number.

Cheapest 5G mobile data ($32 per month)

Without the need of a subscription plan.

Enjoy 50GB Data at 5G Speed, unlimited Canada-wide minutes and messaging (even with pictures) ONLY available from Public Mobile.

You read that right.

For only $32, you'll get speed at 5G. Well, it's actually $34 monthly, but you can earn $1.70/month in points value with their rewards system, which you can use to offset your payment. And after you use your points, then it comes down to an average of $32.30 monthly to be precise.

Plus you can get a $10 credit on your 2nd month payment if you sign up using this link below.

And that for me is the best dea that you can find anywhere elsel!!!

AND have you read about their esim?

Cheapest 4G ($29 per month)

If you don't really need that much 50GB data and if you don't really need that 5G speed, which in most cases you don't, then you might as well save that $5 from your bill.

With just $29 per month, you'll get 40GB in 4G speed. 4G spped is up to 100mbps, and trust me 4G speed is enough for a music listening and a casual video browsing when your outdoors. Also for only 10GB difference from the $34 plan, ask your self, do you really need 50GB or save that $5? I would rather save it in my opinion.

And more, you still also earn $1.45/month in points value with their rewards system, which you can use to offset your payment. And that will bring you average down to less than $28/month.

Why I call this the best deal?

The thing with Canada's mobile plan is you either have too much, or too less mobile data.

For Example:

I can't explain every providers offers, but with Fido's example above, you'll see that the next cheapest thing is 3GB at 3G speed for $35 monthly.

And if you really need to be online a lot while outside, then 3GB at 3G speed won't be enough. So you look at the next available option, and it's $39 montly for 10GB at 4G speed. For a few dollars difference, I don't think anyone will consider a 3GB data for 3G speed for $35, right?

I know, I would like something in between too. I'd love it if there's a 5GB data for $20-25, but that just doesn't exist.

Anyway, for comparison, I made a table of cheapest plan available with more than 3GB data and at least 4G speed. All offers includes unlimited Canada-wide talk and texts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my exisitng phone to Canada?

Yes. There's no restriction as long as it is open line.

I'm planning on buying a new phone. Would it be cheaper or better to buy in the Philippines before I come to Canada?

No. I recommend buying the device where you'll mostly use it for waranty purposes.

You may be able to find a cheaper deal in the Philippines, or wherever you are right now. But claiming for waranty can be so difficult, if something goes wrong.
